Quick Note Today

I love having conversations with Brooke. It is so amazing to see things through her eyes and to see the excitement she gets of what most adults think are little and unimportant things. There are so many things I could list here but the cutest thing that came out of her mouth recently was....

That she wanted me to get a vacuum cleaner to clean the snow so that she could eat it.

Babies Should Come With a Boob Job

This post will have no pictures!

After spending much of this morning at Victorias Secret trying on Bras, I decided that babies should come with a free boob job at the doctor of your choice. Brandon is almost 13 months old and has almost completely weaned himself. I actually try to offer it to him and he doesn't even really want it anymore. He is nursing once, maybe twice in a 24 hours period. I am pretty sad to see and end to it, but it is inevitable. I am glad I was able to do it for 13 months......ie: looking for a nice new, supportive, pushup bra.

With that said, I have nursed 2 babies for a total of 27 months in the past 3 years. My boobs have gone from a 34C to a 36DDD to a 34C to a 36DDD and back to a 34C in the past three years. They look like they have been on their own episode of the biggest loser. I was somewhat prepared for what was so come, but come on, I am only 27yrs old! I never though I would ever need a pushup bra. I Have always been bigger in the bust, but they never needed to be push up by any means....Uggg..

I have officially decided that if you have babies and you nurse them, you should be entitled to a boob job if you want one....no judgements...

When Your 1YR Old is Quiet

When your one year old is quiet for a long time, and he isn't sleeping, it probably isn't a good thing. I left Brandon in his room while I went to do some dishes. We live in small ranch house, so his bedroom is all of 20 steps away. After noticing that I no longer heard him playing for a few minutes, I figured I better go find out what he was up to. For those of you who know Brandon, you know he is rarely quiet. So I went to his room...not there, checked Brooke's room...not there, opened that bathroom door which was closed and this is what I found.....In Brooke's words...."A baby craft mommy!"

Awesome Valentines Day

Besides the gifts given to me by my husband, I got another unexpected Valentines day gift. It is safe to say that Brandon officially slept through the night for the first time on 2/14/10. Lets hope for some repeat nights.

He went down at 7:15PM, early for him but he was cranky, and next thing I knew, I woke up at 6:15AM and he was still sleeping. He eventually woke up around 6:45. After then I went into his room and hung out in his bed with him until 7:45ish. Ahhh...it was so nice....

You Know Its Not Your First Baby When...Part 2

When they make it to the second stair of the staircase before they are rescued

When you take away the dog food from the floor, but leave the dogs water on the floor

When you can efficiently feed them lunch bite by bite in their carseat from the front seat while you are driving....a stick shift car

When they gets pieces of a dorito at 12.5 months because everyone else was eating them and he wouldn't be quiet until I gave him one (you do anything for happiness sometimes...you can add fried wonton to this list too)

When you give them a bottle opener to chew on (it was metal and looked interesting and no, there were no sharp edges, it was an old school one....I never said I was going for a mother of the year award

When they successfully eat the tip of at least 1 crayon and you really aren't concerned about it

When you learn how to squeeze yourself in the back seat the car (Acura TSX...to get and idea of size) inbetween two carseats and can successfully nurse the babe while they are buckled in (Learned this thanks to my SIL and it has been a lifesaver especially with a winter baby)

Conversation With a Three Year Old

Let me set the scene...
Eric getting ready to leave the house to go get his morning coffee. As he walks into the kitchen where Brooke is having a snack, the following conversation takes place:

Brooke "Daddy, why do you have your sweatshirt on? You should take it off, it's not looking so pretty"

Eric "My sweatshirt? Why isn't it pretty?"

Brooke "Because there is yellow (green) and is isn't spark-e-ly.

Eric "I like it. It is green and says the Celtics."

Brooke "I dont like the Celtics (shaking her head)."

Eric "Thats ok, you can just pay for college yourself then."

Brooke "Thats a good idea Daddy"

Snow Pictures

It is almost like a right of passage, to take those pictures of your little baby crying in the snow. Well I took quite a few, and only a few with him upset. Here's to the "big snow" of 2010. Only about a foot, but that is a lot when you are 1 and 3.

And then there are some of Brooke and Daddy:

I gave them snow to eat in a bowl....they thought I was pretty cool!!

You Know Its Not Your First Baby When

He (Brandon) picks something up off the floor and pops it into his mouth and all I say is "I hope that was a cheerio and not a piece of dog food buddy" and continue to do the dishes instead of running over to him in a panic to swipe the mystery substance out of his mouth.

I am 99% sure it was a cheerio but I guess we will never know since Brandon isn't talking anytime soon.

The Only Way To Eat An Oreo

Yesterday I taught Brooke the only way to eat and oreo... Dunk it in a glass of milk. I let her decide on her own if she wanted to take them apart first or not. I guess she really liked the idea...

Today she tried to dunk her dorito in her orange juice....not so great. I have since clarified that cookies and cookies only are the only thing we dunk in milk and milk only :)

She Loves to Sing

Enough Said

Sorry the quality is awful! Normally she SCREAMS the ABC's, but it was her bday and she was a little distracted by the gifts Aunt Kris brought for her.

Brooke Turns 3, Brandon Turns 1

I sucked it up and had a combined birthday for the two of them this year, even though I really didn't want to. I wanted to give each of them their own day, but when it comes down to it...Brandon had no idea what was going on anyway.

On Brooke's actual birthday (1/19), we did whatever she wanted. We went to story hour with Mrs. Michelle, then to build a bear and stuffed a dalmation dog. We came home for a little "rest time" then it was back out to the party store to pick out a balloon. A $9 Diego balloon later and we had a pretty happy 3yr old.

On the 23rd we had their party. Upstairs was decorated with a sports theme and downstairs was Diego. I should have decorated the upstairs with Blackberry's but they didn't have anything at the party store. Saying he is obsessed is an understatement. The party started at 3, and both kids were having a pretty good time. Brandon was off on his nap schedule, so he actually went down at 4....right in the middle of the party. It kinda worked out because while he was sleeping, we had Brooke open up her gifts. Before I knew it, it was 5 and I had to wake the boy up, or he was going to be up all night.

Big Mistake.

First of all he was not happy about that. Being woken up with a hosue full of people was even worse. Then how dare I put him in front of chocolate cake after all of that. He wanted NOTHING to do with it. Everyone staring, waiting for that "first birthday cake on the face moment" that didn't happen because everyone was staring waiting for it. All he wanted to was be left alone to eat blueberries.

We sang to both of them, Brooke loved it. Topped off with ice cream cones and sprinkles for her. Brandon eventually opened his gift the following morning, well rested, with much less of a crowd.

On his actually birthday (1/26), we got the cake eating shots with a much happier boy. All in all everything went well. 3 and 1.....wow!

I Love Her

I just can't believe the things that come out of her mouth. Mind you she has an awful cold, her nose is red from having it wiped every five minutes, she has to wear her sunglasses because her eyes are so sensitive to the light...but she still looked out of the window today looking at the clouds and said, "look mommy, the clouds are blue and pink and purple....its beautiful." I know she is my daughter and all, but it was the cutest thing every coming out of her little 3yr old mouth...in her little stuffed up voice...uggg....love her to death!
