Last Few February Pics

Poor Pony

I am not sure what the pony did to deserve this and I am not quite sure if the culprit was Brooke or Brandon....

Runaway Dog

To make a long story short, our dog got out of our yard a few weeks ago and "ran away".  As a result of all the snow build up this winter, there was a section in the corner or our fenced in yard that she figured out she was able to jump.  Needless to say, one of my biggest animal owner fears came true when I called her to come in and I didn't hear the jingle of her collar.  She usually takes a few minutes to come to the door, but I always hear her collar.  There were multiple sightings of her (the police told us) but no one was able to catch her.  She thought everyone was playing with her and she just kept on running.

Good thing she is a husky, because she ended up spending the night, alone, in the elements.  We searched as much as we possible could, but had to turn in for the night.  Out early the next morning, we got the call that we had been hoping for.  Some good Samaritans spotted her and were able to catch her.  She had made it so far away from home that we weren't even looking for her in the area she was found.

We are forever thankful to these people who brought her home to us.  I know she is only a dog, but the whole thing was pretty traumatic for me.  I took it pretty hard, was pretty emotional about the whole thing and had trouble sleeping the night she was gone.  The people who found her were on their way to volunteer at the local animal shelter when they saw her and they actually foster pets.  It was truly amazing that they were where they were, when they were.  They wouldn't accept anything from us, and told us to support the animal shelter which we happily did.  So I guess this isn't really short, but here are some pictures after we were reunited.  I was taking them so that I could give pictures along with my letter of gratitude to the shelter.  We can't ever say thank you enough to the wonderful couple who found her for us.

Tractor Tent

Brandon was given a tractor tent for his birthday, but we didn't take it out until we were stuck inside because of snow for the day.  Of course, he loved it, Brooke did too.

Valentines Day

Eric had to work this year, so our Valentines day was pretty low key.  We stayed in, Eric cooked and we gave gifts to the kids.  We had a really nice dinner and just enjoyed tine together as a family.  Here are some cell phone pictures of the kids enjoying some Valentines day treats.

Brooke 4yr Stats

At 4 Brooke is:

31lbs-17th percentile
39"-not sure what percentile

When she was born she was in the 20th percentile at 7lb, 5oz.  At a year she was 18lbs, 6oz.  At 2yrs she was 25lbs.  I need to get a hold of her records so I can compare her stats with Brandon.  Anyway, neither are going to be really big kids.  Doc says genetics and her current height have her being approx 5'3" as an adult.

She is enrolled in pre-school 3 days a week and joins Mommy and Brandon in Music class one day a week.  She sleeps through the night.  She has pretty much given up her nap.  Some days she is sent off to rest time, some days she falls asleep and others she stays awake the whole time.

She complains that she doesn't like school, but says she likes her teacher and is always happy when I pick her up.  She gets up and gets dressed happily in the morning until I mention "school"....then the whining, complaining, and doing everything as slow as possible starts.  She even tried to pretend to throw up the other day so she didn't have to go to school.  Not very promising starting that behavior in pre-school.  She is going to be a fun teenager!

Both her tubes (2nd set, 10/10) have fallen out, hoping her eustachian tubes have matured enough to ward off any more ear infections.  Speech, hearing, motorskills and everything else is on track.

Brandon 2yr Stats

At 2 Brandon is:

24lbs-7th percentile
33"-22nd percentile

When he was born he was in the 20th percentile.  At a year he was in 13th percentile for weight (20lbs) and 14th (28") for height.

His vocabulary, at a guess is anywhere from 50-100 words and is speaking in sentences for the most part.  I am not even attempting potty training until late this summer at the earliest.  He has 3 of his 4 second year molars and is sleeping through the night in a twin bed.

Brandon's ear tubes are on their way out, almost completely sitting in the ear canal instead of in the ear drum.  Hopefully we won't have to have a second set.  They were only put in, in May 2010, so they didn't get us all the way through this winter but we are keeping our fingers crossed.

He is a picky eater when you put food on his plate, but will eat whatever we are eating is we allow him to sit on our laps and eat (horrible habit to start)  oh well.  He eats tons of fruit, but the only vegetable he will touch is broccoli (raw or cooked).  He prefers breakfast foods (bagels, pancakes, toast).

He is obsessed with everyones drink, most times having a meltdown because we won't let him have our glasses full of whatever we are drinking.

He still loves trucks.  He is taking a few mommy and me classes, we go to music class, gym classes and a local class called Giggletime at the library.

Mom Moment

I had a totally mommy brain moment about two weeks ago.  I am usually pretty good about keeping things together, but apparently not on this particular day.  I went to a different grocery store than I normally do because I needed a few things that are harder to find for the kids birthday party.  After spending longer than I usually do in the store, with the kids on edge, I unload my full cart onto the belt.  Everything was rung up and I pulled out my wallet to pay.

Well, I went to pull out my wallet to pay, but it wasn't there.  I never take my wallet out without putting it back.....but on this day I left it on the front seat after I went through the Starbucks drive-thru.  Apparently I should have finished my coffee before I went into the grocery store and maybe prevented this.  I felt like a big idiot, but it all ended well.  Luckily no one was behind me in line so the cashier (and older woman who was very nice and not grumpy about the situation) turned off her light and waited for me to race out to the car and come back with my wallet.  She even offered to watch the kids for me!

I felt like such a moron, but luckily my car was close!

Shaving Already

Brandon loves it when Eric gets up late and he is able to get ready with him in the morning.  He stands with Eric and pretends to do everything that he does.  On his birthday, he got his first shaving kit.  It is perfect and couldn't come at a better time.  Doc even showed him how to use everything!

Imagine That

The beginning of January we went to a  museum called "Imagine That".  The concept is similar to "The Please Touch Museum" in Philly, but obviously much closer to home.  Brandon was thrilled because there were a few cars and trucks that he could climb in and even a small plane.  Brooke really enjoyed the puppet shows, and the indoor playground.  There was also a vet center set up and a grocery store that Brooke found entertaining.  We topped the morning off with a late lunch at Friendly's...Yum!

More Snow

Since December 15th, we have had snow on an average of every 4 days.  With that said, I took some pictures of Brooke playing in the snow with Kacee and her attempt to make a snowman with some very powdery snow.
