Art Projects

We have had never ending snow here in NJ, so we have been keeping busy with all sorts of projects and crafts.  Even thought it was January, we got in the Valenties day spirit a little early this year.

Brandon Turns 2

Brandon's actual second birthday was your pretty average day.  Brooke had school, so we were following our normal routine for the most part.  While she was at school I took him to Walmart nearby because we were just wasting time before some snow was supposed to start.

I let him play up and down the toy isles for about an hour and a half before we left to pick up Brooke.  We made him home before any real snow accumulation, and we were stuck inside for the rest of the day.  His party was the weekend before (combined with Brooke) but we left him open a few gifts that we had gotten for him on his birthday and let him stay up a little bit later than normal after Brooke went to bed.  He is definitely turning into quite the little man!

Birthday Boy

Another January birthday.  In just 2 days my little man will be 2.  I can't believe it.  He can stop growing any time now.

Favorite Party Pics

The kids birthday parties were this weekend.  They were a ton of fun!  Upstairs was decorated for Brooke's "My Little Pony" party, while downstairs was decorated in a truck theme for Brandon.  We were surrounded by great people, the kids were spoiled, and everyone survived the day without any party meltdowns.  I still can't believe they are 2 and 4.  They are getting big so fast.

My Favorite Mug

One of the best parts about having children is being able to see them enjoy some of the same things you did as a child.  I have saved quite a bit of things from my childhood, including my favorite mug.

I remember many days coming inside from playing in the snow, and having hot chocolate with my sister who has a similar mug.

It was just as fun for me as it was for Brooke when I let her drink out of this after playing in the snow.  Not to mention all the memories that it brought back.

I realized I didn't in fact take a picture of who was hiding in there, but if you really wanted to know, mine had a turtle in it.  Brooke barely drank enough for the little guys head to stick out of the hot chocolate!

Birthday

I didn't plan on spending Brooke's birthday in all day, but that is what happens when you have a stomach bug.  Shortly after I finished baking and icing 40 cupcakes for her to bring to school on Wednesday, a stomach bug reared its ugly head.

We didn't do anything really exciting on her actual birthday besides let her open some gifts from us.  She felt much better than the day before, but I wasn't about to risk it by taking her out of the house.

So, we didn't go and get a balloon, or have a cupcake with a candle in it.  I still think she is a little confused that it was her birthday, because it didn't turn out to be all that special of a day.  While it was special to me, it felt like just another normal day for her.  On the up side, at least she didn't have to go to school on her birthday!

Her party is on Saturday (combined with Brandon's while I can still get away with it), so hopefully it will sink in by then and she will be able to have some fun.

This is what you look like when you are 4, on your birthday, and you don't feel good :(

Purple, Purple, Purple

Purple is Brooke's favorite color and has been for sometime now.  For her birthday she requested purple cupcakes with Starsong My Little Pony on each one.  Luckily she was happy to settle for purple cupcakes with purple icing.

They look a little pink, but it really is purple.  I even dyed the funfetti batter purple too!

I can't believe my first little baby is turning 4 tomorrow.  It is so bittersweet for me.  I am incredibly happy, but at the same time I feel like it is all flying by, way too fast.  Four years ago today my labor was about to start in a few hours, little did I know it would be a whole 24 hours before out little girl would make her appearance.

Because I can't stop looking at her baby pictures.  Look at what a difference four years makes.

As Promised

As promised here are some shots of my nieces and nephew in the shirts I had made for them.
